It happens when the skin suffers permanent DNA damage. Skin cancer can occur due to various reasons. Skin Cancer is one of the most common form of cancer people suffers from. What is Skin Cancer
Skin Cancer can be mainly of three types :
- Basal cell carcinomas
- Squamous cell carcinomas
Basal cell carcinomas and Squamous cell carcinomas
Among these the most common form of skin cancer is the basal cell carcinomas and Squamous cell carcinomas, which is caused due to excessive exposure to Ultra Violet rays, which damages the skin cells. This type of skin cancer mainly occurs in the exposed area which comes under UV rays’ effect. Basal and Squamous Skin cancer occur mainly in the neck and head area. This type of cancer is not so malignant if treated timely. These types of cancer mainly damages the particular skin portion and the tissue lying in that part. If not treated, then it can damage the cells and tissue and may become life threatening.
Melanoma is not the common form of skin cancer, and it causes due to melanocytes cells that helps to develop the brown pigment that gives skin its color. This can be of black and brown colors. This is a rare form, but can be dangerous. This type of cancer mainly occurs in the chest, back, face, neck and legs.
There are also various other rare types of skin cancer, which includes Merkel cell carcinoma, Kaposi sarcoma, Cutaneous lymphoma, Skin adnexal and other various types of sarcomas.

Causes of Skin Cancer
Skin Cancer may cause due to various reasons. The main reasons are harmful effects of ultraviolet rays. It can also due to some genetic syndrome, birthmarks and moles, tanning beds, unhealed wounds, HPV infections, ionized radiation, immune suppressible medication, tobacco smoking etc.
How to prevent skin cancer
Protect our skin by applying sunscreen lotion and wearing proper clothes which can protect your skin. Try to avoid sun bath and sun exposure during peak hours such as noon time. Try to have lots of fresh green vegetables and fruits, which has antioxidants and vitamins which are good for your skin.
Treatment for Skin Cancer
There are various types of treatment for skin cancer, but it totally depends on what is the condition and the stage. Beam radiotherapy, Topical chemotherapy, Moh’s micro graphic surgery are some of the treatments for skin cancer.
