Heavy meals make us feel sleepy. But sleeping immediately after a full meal is dangerous for our health. It can cause stomach discomfort, gas and acidity. The digestive juices present in the stomach flows back to the food pipes due to the body pressure and burn them. Also taking a nap after meal can cause extra weight gain. It is better to wait for couple of hours before you finally go to bed after dinner.
I am sure you have already heard it quite a few times that eating fruit after lunch is good for our health. But actually it is not! Fruits are easy to digest and it takes just 20 minutes for them to travel from stomach to intestines where they are finally digested. So when you eat any fruit after meal, they get stuck along with the meals in the stomach and don’t reach the intestines on time. As a result, they get spoilt and along with it, also spoil the foods in the stomach. And our body cannot get the nutritional value.
We have seen people around us who have this habit of smoking cigarette right after finishing a meal, specially dinner. Smoking cigarette anytime is harmful and should be avoided, but studies have shown that when people smoke right after a meal, the damage of smoking one cigarette is the same as smoking 10 cigarettes at the same time.

This is another activity that should be avoided after a meal, specially a hot shower. When we have a meal, the stomach needs a good amount of blood for proper digestion of the food. But when we take a warm shower, it immediately raises the temperature of our body and blood starts to flow near the skin area to cool down the heat. And as a result, the amount of blood needed in the stomach gets reduced and it hampers the digestion process.

Taking a stroll
You might have heard that taking a stroll right after dinner or any meal is good. But wait before you take a walk after your dinner. Taking a walk immediately after eating can result in stomach upset, acidity and gas. It prevents digestive juice to absorb the nutrients present in the food. So take a short walk (10 minutes) after at least 30 minutes of having a meal is suggested to speed up digestion and better sleep.
