Foods I Don’t Miss in Winter – Winter is the lovely season which gifts us lots of vegetables and fruits. People who love to eat this, winter will be surely the best season for you. But remember always, during winter season your body needs to have highly cooked food which will keep your body warm. A warm and hot food not only keeps us warm, it is tastier and along with it also keeps us away from infections and viruses. That is why in winter you will find hot soups; grilled, steamed foods are much available in home and market. But in case of mine, I always choose foods which are packed with good nutrition, vitamins and minerals; and of course I choose my foods to be tastier and healthier at the same time.
Foods I Don’t Miss in Winter
I have always heard during winters in order to keep yourself warm you need to have compact food which may have more calories. The most essential nutrients which I take care of during winters will be vitamin C, zinc, iron, protein, Vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin B, Potassium, Magnesium, Selenium, Calcium, Probiotics and lots of antioxidants. Today I am going to discuss the Foods I Don’t Miss in Winter and which will be advisable for all of you as these foods will keep your warm, extremely nutritious and will keep you away from diseases.
Vitamin C is very essential for health as it helps to fight various infections and allergies. Fruits like oranges, lemons, and grapefruit not only are loaded with vitamin C, they are also packed with flavonoids, folates, fibers, potassium which not only protects you from various infections but also helps to keep blood circulation , blood pressure level in control. So when it comes to winter foods, citrus fruits should be on top of your list.
Eggs are good source of protein and iron. And eggs during breakfast keep you warm for the whole day.

Cabbages are filled with vitamin C, vitamin K, folate, fiber and antioxidants. Cabbages can be used for salads, soups and grilled sandwiches. Cabbage helps to balance the blood cholesterol level, pressure and also helps to maintain the calories and that’s why it is one of the winter foods that you can’t miss.
Winter squash is filled with vitamin A, Carotenoids, potassium. Squash has various variant such as butter squash, kabocha, which are delicate but all are filling and nutritious and should also make it to your list of must have winter foods.

Carrots are huge source of vitamin A and vitamin C, beta carotene and antioxidants. They are good to be eaten raw or can be used for vegetables, salads and even for sweet dishes. Have plenty of carrots to keep your skin, eye and body healthy. It even keeps you away from the risk of cancer.
This is another winter food that you should not ignore. Sweet potato is again loaded with beta carotene, fiber, vitamin A and vitamin C. It tastes very good and is of fewer calories.

Pomegranate is a tasty fruit which will keep you full and is filled with anti oxidants. It keeps your arteries healthy, keeps blood pressure, cholesterol in control. Pomegranate also takes care of healthy heart. So have this winter food in plenty.
Mark this as an essential winter food. Chicken or white meat is the lean protein which will keep you full and will helps you to reduce body weight. Delicious dishes can be prepared with chicken. Protein will help in proper development of muscle and will keep you away from muscle and joint issues.
Dark leafy greens
Dark green vegetables such as spinach, kale, collards and various types of “ Indian saags” such as “methi”, “sarson” and “palak” are the winter foods that you can’t and shouldn’t miss. They are filled with high nutrition such as vitamin K, Vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin A, magnesium, potassium, iron, calcium, phytonutrients and antioxidants, These vegetables are awesome to taste when cooked and are immensely loaded with minerals and vitamins. These vegetables keep you over all healthy be it heart, lungs, kidney.
There are many more winter foods to go, remember to try out all kinds of seasonal fruits such as apple, pears, and berries in winter and vegetables such as radish, turnip, beans, Brussels sprouts, potatoes, cauliflower which are extremely nutritious. So eat healthy foods just remember to prepare it with olive oil or sunflower oil which will help you to be more healthy.
