It is not a ubiquitous and well-known essential oil, but that does not take anything away from its bounties. It is very effective to treat painful conditions including headache, nerve pain, arthritis and menstrual cramps. This essential oil is created by steam distilling the leaves, and it contains a very high percentage of methyl salicylate. This oil has pain-relieving properties similar to aspirin.
Thyme is a popular herb commonly used to add aromatic flavor to meats, soups and stews. Sprigs of fresh thyme also serve as great garnishes. Thyme Essential Oil is antispasmodic, good for joint and muscle pain as well as backache.

How to use essential oils
Firstly, as a massage oil. Before that, you need to do is remember that essential oil should never be applied on your skin alone ever else you might be left shrieking in pain, running pillar to post feverishly. Essential oils are highly concentrated. Always dilute the essential oil in base or carrier oil. Why are the base oils called ‘carrier oils’? Because they ‘carry’ the essential oil’s goodness without scalding your skin.
Warm (and not heat) the base oil that you have found to be compatible with your skin/scalp. It may be coconut oil, olive oil, sesame oil, almond oil, practically any oil (except an essential oil, for obvious reasons). If you are opting for coconut oil, grab ‘virgin’ coconut oil instead of the processed one which is devoid of any nutritious value. I would recommend KLF Nirmals Virgin coconut oil.
Once you have the base oil of your choice, warm it a bit. Add 3-4 drops (please note, it is ‘drops” and neither tbsp. nor tsp) into it. Massage the resulting blend on your scalp. If you have got someone else’s pair of hands to do so (come on, use your crafty mind. Bribe someone to do that), it is even better!Carry on the massage for 10-15 minutes and repeat every day till you see improvement. Do not overdo it in a bid to expedite results. Be patient, mate.

The second method to draw the advantages of essential oils is by way of a bath soak. This spells luxury and relaxation from the word ‘Go’, doesn’t it? All you need to do is put a few drops of the essential oil in a bucket containing warm water (you can also add 2-3 cups of Epsom salt to enhance the effect). It’s a better idea to mix the essential oil drops in a small amount of carrier oil first and then add to the bath. Next dip your feet/hand in the bucket and unwind. Play your favorite playlist and let the blend work its magic.
