- 1 tsp whole cloves
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 4-5 drops of peppermint oil
Pour a cup of water in a saucepan. Add the cloves and ground cinnamon. Bring the moisture to boil and then remove the saucepan from heat. Cover it and set it aside for 10 minutes which will allow the ingredients to steep. Now take a piece of clean muslin cloth or a fine strainer and strain the mixture. Collect the liquid in a bowl. Strain again and then transfer the mixture in a small bottle. Add 3-4 drops of peppermint oil. Close the lid and shake the bottle so that the oil gets mixed. And here is your homemade herbal mint and clove mouthwash is ready.
Clove oil contains eugenol which has rich antiseptic properties. It acts as a dental preservative. Eugenol also prevents cancer and gives relief from toothache. The antibiotic properties present in cinnamon helps to treat cavities and dental plaque. Peppermint oil is refreshing and it has a cooling effect. Also peppermint oil fights oral bacteria effectively.
Homemade Lemon and Cinnamon Mouthwash
- 2 lemons
- half tsp of cinnamon powder
- half tsp of baking soda (optional)
- 1 & half tsp of honey
- 1 cup of warm water
Take a bottle with a tight fitting lid. Put the cinnamon powder, baking soda and honey into the bottle. Add the juice of two lemons. And then pour a cup of very warm water into the bottle. Close the lid and give it a good shake. This will melt the honey and help all the ingredients to mix well. Your homemade herbal mouthwash is now ready for use.
