Bara Imambara was built by Asaf-ud-Daula the fourth Nawab of Awadh in the year 1784. It took total 14 years to complete and was built as a part of women relief project which was going on the year 1784. This building has a main hall and two other halls named Kharbuja and Surajmukhi. The main hall has number of doors but the building surprisingly had no pillars to support 50 ft. high main hall. It has another wonderful feature “Bhool Bhulaiya” (labyrinth) is in the upper floor of the Imambara.
Chattar Manzil or umbrella palace is also known as Kothi Farhat Baksh is one of the famous tourist places. This building was made by General Claud Martin for his residency but later it bought by Nawab Saadat Ali Khan and later it was extended by Ghaz–ud-din Haider and his son Nasir-ud-din Haider. It is situated on the river Gomti. The building depicts the modern European style of architecture. The lower stories of the building remain merged in water of Gomti River. Earlier begums used to rest down there while traveling to Badsah Bagh.
The most impressive architectural structure was built by Nawab Asaf-ud- Daula in the year 1764. It is located in Husssainabad. Rumi Darwaza depicts the architectural style of Awadh. It is the signature building of Lucknow. It is also known as Turkish Gate. As it was built by the Roman workers it was named after them Roomi Gate.

Jama Masjid was built in the year 1839 by King Muhammad Ali Shah in Lucknow at Tasinganj area. Later it was completed by Malika Jahan Begum in 1845.

Chhota Imambara is also known as Hussainabad Imambara few meters away from Satkhanda. It is known as palace of lights. It was built by Nawab Muhammad Ali Shah in the years of 1837 to 1840. Chhota Imambara is decorated with attractive chandeliers from Belgium.
